MVP Development in Toronto
DevDec
DevDec is a Mississauga AI engineering and app development company founded in 2012 by Junal Rahman. An MVP at DevDec is the smallest release a Toronto startup can put in front of real users without planning to throw the code away. It includes accounts, the data, and one complete path. It does not include the roadmap. The studio is at 6 Come by Chance Mews, Mississauga, ON L5N 1J8, and can be reached at (647) 895-3832. Founders meet at the Mississauga studio or we go to them in Toronto.
How an MVP is cut
The portfolio does not label any project with the word MVP, and this page will not invent that label after the fact. The method below is how a first release is scoped. The products underneath are new apps we shipped, which is a different claim.
Name the one job
The first user has to finish one thing: book, track, order, or match. Every other idea goes on a list that is explicitly not in the release. If that sentence cannot be written, the project is not ready to build.
Build it on a stack we can keep
Accounts, the database, and that one path are production code. A clickable prototype is useful in the first week and is not the MVP. We will not hand a founder a demo that has to be rewritten before the first customer.
Put it in front of users before the second workflow
The second workflow waits until someone outside the founding team has used the first one. Toronto startups lose months building the admin, the referral program, and the notifications before that happens.
Decide the next release on purpose
After the first users, the next quote is either more product or a repair of what the prototype got wrong. If the codebase came from Lovable, Bolt, Replit, Cursor, or v0 and is already stuck, start with Rescue instead of pretending it is a greenfield MVP.
What is in the first release
A Toronto MVP from this studio is a small product, not a slide and not a staff seat.
The path, the account, and the data
Sign-in that stays signed in, a record the business can trust, and the one flow the company exists to offer. Analytics and growth tooling wait.
A surface for the founder
Enough of an admin to see what users did. Not a second product. If the business is the admin, as with a marketplace or a staffing desk, that is said at the start and the cut list changes.
iOS, Android, or web, not all three by default
We pick the surface the first users already have. A second platform is a later release. The mobile stack itself is documented on the Toronto mobile page.
A written list of what was cut
The founder leaves with the features that were discussed and refused. That list is how the next investor conversation stays honest.
First products we shipped
These were new products taken from an idea to a shipped app. The public pages do not call them MVPs, and neither does this one. They are here because a startup can see the size of a first release.
uChef
An ordering and delivery app that connects customers with local home-based chefs, plus a supply marketplace for the chefs.
DriverX
A mobile app that connects driving students with nearby instructors through search.
YapParty
A watch-party app for live football, movies, and games with friends.
ImmiTrack
A first product for Canadian immigration applicants: tracking, a countdown, expert answers, and custom news.
Questions from startups
Do you build MVPs for Toronto startups?
Yes. The studio is in Mississauga and the founders we work with are often in Toronto. An MVP here means one user path on code you can keep, not a prototype scheduled for replacement.
How small is small enough?
If a new user cannot describe the product in one sentence after using it, the release is still too big or the sentence was never chosen. We would rather ship the sentence than a tour of future features.
Can you take a no-code or AI-built prototype and turn it into the MVP?
Sometimes the right move is to keep it and fix the specific failure, which is Rescue. Sometimes the prototype has to be replaced. We will say which after we have seen the repo, and we will not quote a rebuild as a "polish."
What do you need from the founding team?
Someone who can answer "what is the one job?" in the first meeting, and who can introduce us to a real user before the second workflow starts. Reach the studio at (647) 895-3832, contact@devdec.com, or the quote form.
